Here
I
am
with
a
little
sugar
bass.
I
was
actually
hung
up
in
the
kelp,
and
got
bit
while
I
was
trying
to
free
my
line.

Our
May
Island
Tak
charter
was
supposed
to
target
white
seabass,
but
Steve
called
Tuesday
and
asked
if
we
wanted
to
leave
early,
and
go
after
some
yellowtail.
Obviously
we
jumped
at
the
chance.
We
left
the
harbor
at
1:30am,
and
headed
out.
We
woke
up
at
6am
to
this
beautiful
sight...

There
were
still
no
signs
of
yellows,
so
I
decided
to
do
some
"meat
fishing".
Here's
a
red
I
got
on
a
strip
of
squid.

Capt
Pat
Cavanaugh
took
us
out
to
Santa
Rosa
Island
to
try
for
white
seabass.
When
we
got
out
there
the
conditions
weren't
right,
and
we
couldn't
make
any
squid.
We
tried
for
a
short
time,
then
headed
out
for
some
rockfishing.
Here's
Dennis

a
SFR
whitefish.

We
started
this
trip
looking
for
yellowtail,
but
it
was
a
no-go,
conditions
just
didn't
prove
to
be
right.
So
we
got
into
a
rockfish
mode
and
hooked
up
on
some
Giant
Squid,
Bocaccio,
Vermillion
Rockfish,
Lingcod,
Starry
Rockfish,
and
some
small
Ocean
Perch.
The
weather
was
pleasant,
crew
worked
hard,
and
the
food
was
great.
Although
Captain
Bill
Cavanaugh
was
somewhat
disappointed
that
we
didn't
find
the
yellowtail,
everyone
got
some
nice
fish
and
made
some
new
friends,
although
some
were
camera
shy.
