New Seeker

Down
to
fishing!
We
arrived
at
the
Farallon
Islands,
some
25
miles
or
so
from
the
Golden
Gate,
at
around
9AM.
Though
it
was
a
long
run,
Captain
Harry
of
the
New
Seeker
put
us
right
onto
the
action.
This
being
my
first
rockfishing
trip
in
Northern
California
(as
I
used
to
live
down
in
SoCal
and
work
on
boats
there)
I
was
amazed
that
we
didn't
bring
any
bait
-
just
shrimp
flies.
The
action
was
Wide
Open!!
We
didn't
need
a
single
piece
of
bait.

I
had
to
contend
with
a
little
rocking
and
rolling
while
taking
these
photos
--
the
Farallons
aren't
exactly
known
for
their
calm
weather.
Nonetheless,
here
are
a
few
happy
anglers
pulling
up
their
gangions.
We
fished
at
anywhere
between
30
and
180
feet
for
wide
open
action
-
sometimes
three
fish
on
two
hooks
and
the
sinker!

Another
nice
specimen
of
the
Blueish
variety...
Most
of
the
fish
ranged
from
2
pounds
up
to
about
4
or
so.
As
soon
as
Captain
Harry
pulled
onto
a
spot,
the
rockfish
would
move
up
the
water
column
to
come
and
play.
Though
we
were
in
180
to
240
feet
of
water,
we'd
often
get
fish
right
under
the
boat
at
20
or
30
feet.
I
gotta
say,
these
little
blues
sure
love
to
tug,
too!
