Eastern Pacific Ocean — from Alaska south to Baja California. Found in rocky intertidal zones, tide pools, and shallow subtidal areas in 0–30 feet. Similar to Monkeyface Prickleback in habitat but more slender and elongated. Found under rocks in tidal areas and in kelp beds along the Pacific Coast. Can breathe air temporarily like its relative the Monkeyface Prickleback.

Best Baits:
Small pieces of mussel and shrimp produce incidental catches in rocky intertidal areas. Poke-poling (inserting a baited pole into rock crevices) is the traditional technique.
