Silvery-gold body with 6–8 golden-orange horizontal stripes running along the sides. Deeply forked tail. Adults reach 10–14 inches. Schools of Salema are a striking sight in the water column.\n\n

Best Baits: Shrimp, small pieces of squid, blood worms.\n\n

Light tackle fishing near kelp. A fun schooling species on ultralight gear. Not a primary target. The flesh is edible but strong-flavored.
