Deep, strongly compressed body with a blunt snout and small mouth. Silvery to greenish-gold above with a golden-yellow belly and fin edges. No scales on the forehead (distinguishes from Permit). Adults typically reach 14–20 inches and 1–3 lbs; the world record exceeds 8 lbs.\n\n
