Flattened head, large upturned mouth, and rows of small glowing dots along the underside. Brownish-olive above. Adults reach 12–18 inches.\n\n

Not targeted by sport anglers. More often encountered in tidepools and nearshore dredge surveys. Fascinating ecologically for its bioluminescence and acoustic communication.
